About Me

Hello! My name is David Altizio, and I am a math enthusiast.

Currently, I am a third-year NSF graduate fellow studing mathematics at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. In May 2019, I graduated with both a Master's Degree in Mathematical Sciences and a minor in Computer Science from Carnegie Mellon University. My Master's Thesis was about "Some Results Concerning Screened Sobolev Spaces" and was written under the supervision of Dr. Ian Tice.

I participated extensively in mathematics competitions throughout my high school years. My biggest achievements include: I also was/am an active member of the Art of Problem Solving boards, of which I attribute most of my internet presence under the username djmathman. Nowadays, I am still actively involved in the math contest community, both as a TA for AwesomeMath and as a problem writer for contests such as CMIMC and the AMC/AIME.

I have recently gotten into puzzle writing; as of January 2021, I have been posting my puzzles onto a dedicated blog. I also have an (inactive!) math blog which you can find here.
